In July 2025, with generous support from Xi’an Traffic Engineering Institute, I joined sixteen colleagues from our university in Adelaide, South Australia, for the two-week “AI-Powered International Teaching Innovation Development Program” run by the University of Adelaide’s English Language Centre (ELC). I saw that technology is not a cold replacement; it is a match that lights thinking. Education is not filling a bucket; it is showing where the water is. Thanks to my university and to ELC for pointing to the AI and cross-cultural spring. I will keep using simple AI tools, clear language and open tasks to help Chinese railway students become global, caring and digital-ready engineers.Once again, I would like to express my gratitude to our university for its strong support.

Through this program, I deeply realized that foreign universities focus on student-centered teaching concepts and emphasize interactive participation. Different from the traditional teacher-centered teaching mode, the teaching at the University of Adelaide pays more attention to cultivating students' autonomous learning ability and critical thinking, which has great enlightenment for my future teaching work. This study program at the University of Adelaide was a valuable learning experience, which significantly improved my teaching concepts, AI technology application, and international perspective. I deeply realize that in the context of educational digital transformation, actively exploring the integration of AI technology and curriculum teaching is an important direction for future educational development.

This training has clarified the direction for my future efforts: On one hand, we need to continuously explore the application potential of AI in personalized teaching and educational equity; on the other hand, we must adhere to the essential attributes of education and find a balance between technology and humanity. With this thought in mind, I plan to convert the outcomes of this training into teaching practice, so that AI can truly serve the core mission of "cultivating learners with warmth and creativity". Optimize teaching processes with AI, make EMI classrooms more efficient; continuously refine interactive designs; and more importantly, maintain enthusiasm for teaching innovation and explore international teaching paths suitable for local students in practice.

For me, this program was a profound professional evolution. I not only systematically grasped the theoretical framework of EMI teaching and a range of practical tools but, more importantly, I developed an educational technology perspective that sees artificial intelligence as a powerful "collaborator" rather than a "replacement." I understand that the teacher of the future must be a designer who skillfully masters technology, a coach guiding student exploration, and a mentor facilitating deep learning.I will carry the inspiration gained in the Southern Hemisphere back to my own podium, dedicating myself to the field I am passionate about with broader vision, more advanced methods, and greater enthusiasm, using wisdom to enlighten the future.

The nearly two-week study tour featured a tightly scheduled program with a rich array of learning content. Margot and Matt, our two instructors, possessed distinct teaching styles, from which I benefited greatly in terms of content delivery, body language, teaching approaches, and teacher-student interaction. Looking back on this study tour, I feel deeply honored and fulfilled. The EMI Resource Hub at the ELC of the University of Adelaide not only provided me with abundant learning resources and practical opportunities but also made me profoundly recognize the infinite possibilities of AI technology in the field of education. I am aware that in today's increasingly globalized world, how to leverage AI technology to improve teaching quality and promote the language and academic integration of international students is a challenge that every educator must face. I believe that AI will become an indispensable partner in my future teaching endeavors, and together, we will create a bright future for education.

The two-week study has greatly improved my educational and teaching concepts, skills in using AI tools, as well as my oral and listening English proficiency. This training enabled me to learn student-centered teaching methods aimed at enhancing learner engagement, master some measures on how to formulate specific interaction strategies, and become familiar with various digital tools and technologies driven by artificial intelligence, which are used to enhance teaching effectiveness and course planning levels, providing effective support for the subsequent development of bilingual teaching. Thank you again to the school for its meticulous organization and arrangement, which has given me the opportunity to come into contact with the latest teaching methods and AI teaching tools from abroad. My AI teaching ability and bilingual teaching level have been greatly improved. In the future, I will continue to study hard and strive to launch the bilingual course of materials mechanics as soon as possible to contribute to the development of the school.

This trip had a strong impact on me and brought profound insights, mainly reflected in the following two aspects: First, the role of educators urgently needs to transform. In the AI era, teachers are no longer the sole authoritative providers of knowledge. Second, technology must serve pedagogy, not the other way around. This trip to Australia was a valuable journey of learning and ideological innovation. I not only acquired cutting-edge knowledge and skills but also felt a strong sense of mission and urgency. In an era of rapid global educational transformation, only by maintaining an open mind, continuing to learn, and daring to practice can we fulfill the fundamental task of "fostering virtue through education" as university teachers and cultivate innovative talents who can adapt to and lead the future. Here, I sincerely thank the university for providing me with this precious opportunity to participate in this publicly funded faculty development program.

This summer, I was extremely fortunate to participate in the Study Abroad Exchange and Training Program at the University of Adelaide in Australia, and I would like to express my sincere gratitude to those who made this valuable learning opportunity possible. This experience was far more than a mere academic activity—it was like a grand feast of knowledge and ideas, injecting fresh vitality into my academic exploration and teaching journey, and leaving me with abundant practical gains and profound reflections that will guide my future work.Looking back on this journey, the most invaluable gain is not a collection of isolated teaching techniques, but the reshaping of a teaching philosophy centered on "students as the core and culture as the bridge."In the future, I will continue to build my teaching on the foundation of "contextualized instruction," take "problem-driven inquiry" as its core, use "digital resources" as support, strive to enhance teaching quality, and contribute more to the growth and development of my students.

Over the two weeks, every session—whether focused on English Medium Instruction (EMI) methodologies, AI integration in classrooms, or practical teaching exercises—was meticulously designed to bridge theory and practice, equipping me with actionable strategies to elevate my teaching in EMI settings. Throughout the program, AI emerged not as a “replacement” for teachers, but as a powerful “collaborator” to enhance classroom efficiency and student engagement. I leave with a toolkit of strategies: AI-powered lesson planning tools, student-centered methodologies, and a commitment to continuous reflection. Most importantly, I leave with a new mindset: EMI is not a barrier to teaching and learning, but an opportunity to innovate—to use AI to personalize support, to design engaging activities that bridge language and content, and to empower students to thrive in a globalized academic environment.
